Subject: Good quality, "interesting" cust. svc
Comment: I use Metalliferous a lot - quite a few orders in the course of a year via mail and at least 3 - 4 trips to NYC to buy in person.

I do like their selection and quality, and their prices on most metal items (particularly those purchased in quantity) is competitive. They have an excellent tools selection, and I've had very good luck finding attractively priced gently-used tools (especially hand tools like pliers, hammers, stakes, daps, files, etc.) on trips into their store.

One thing that I warn others about, though, is the expectation of rudeness and brusqueness in the customer service arena (both phone and in-store). They do tend to "bark" at their customers fairly frequently, especially at newbies who don't pick up on their in-store rules (2 hands on the bins at all times!) immediately.

Assuming you can tolerate the attitude (or, better yet, visit on a quiet day!), they are definitely worth considering for your purchases.
