I am just a girl who likes making metal explorations, and setting a stone here and there. Its just me and my dog and my bench, working from home making one of a kind pieces. Hopefully one day Ill see one of my pieces on a stranger.
Abrasha is a metal artist who creates contemporary jewelry from unexpected combinations of precious and non-precious materials in forms well beyond traditional jewelry concepts. Line includes wedding rings, cocktail rings, earrings and pendants, one-of-a-kind pieces and Judaica items for exhibition and commission.
As a 6th generation metal artist and a grandchild of Holocaust Survivors, Aimee creates contemporary Judaica in order to preserve, illuminate and share the universal within Judaism.
My esthetic is modern, my chosen materials are mostly non-precious and often non-traditional. I work with sterling silver, copper, stainless steel, epoxy resin, ultrasuede, polypropylene, paper ephemera, textiles, and industrial parts, among others. My materials may be humble but they become precious when seen in the context of the finished piece.
Organic Mechanical Objects of Adornment: I utilize the inherent properties of metal through a technique called fold-forming. By folding and unfolding sheet metal, I create volumetric form. Hand forging and fabrication result in jewelry that embodies a sculptural presence.
