I think what James is getting at is that silver has such a high thermal conductivity that you have to hit it with a lot of current to melt the site to be welded before that heat is transmitted to the adjacent structure. 300 amps scares me though - seems to me it would go directly from solid to vapor phase :) Still waiting on parts...
