Tumbling Jump Rings

There is an easier and quicker way to separate tumbled jump rings
from steel shot than picking them out one by one or separating them
with a magnet or sieve.

When cutting coils with your Jump Ringer, we recommend that you
always place a wood dowel ( a bamboo skewer for very small rings)
inside the coil and execute the cut on the dowel. This not only
extends the life of your blade but it can also be used to hasten the
separation of rings and shot. Before inserting the dowel into your
coil, drill a small diameter hole lengthwise in the end of the dowel
about 1/4" deep. After the coil is cut, lift the dowel with your
jump rings on it and insert one end of a 3" long copper wire into
the hole. Holding the wire in the hole, tilt the dowel so the rings
slide down onto the wire. Twist the ends of the wire together
securely. Make certain that the loop is long enough so the rings are
loose and free to move about. This will allow the shot to contact
all outside surfaces. Place the coil with your rings strung on it
into the tumbler and tumble as normal.
