Ganoksin - Jewelry Making Video Archive

Welcome to the Ganoksin Video Library!
While reading about a process or technique is helpful, often it's more easily understood by seeing a demonstration.

Ganoksin now offers a video peek into the virtual world. Suppliers, refiners, jewelers, and educators will contribute incredible demonstrations on topics including casting, alloying, bench tricks, and more. We'll be adding new videos to our Library, so please stay tuned!

Technical support: Contact us and please remember to include the following information:

4. Daniel Ballard and Jurgen Maerz discuss platinum alloys [Part 1 and 2]

One fine day at Fine Gold in Ontario, CA, Daniel Ballard (PMWest) and Jurgen Maerz (Dir technical education- Platinum Guild) were doing some test castings at Fine Gold. They were both doing "high speed" three hour wax to cast work. But a two hour burnout still leaves some downtime. So Jurgen and Daniel decided to have an informal chat expressing personal opinions on Platinum alloys and rhodium plating. We just had to put that on tape. It ran long enough to split into two parts for easy viewing on the web. Great information presented for your education. Anyone curious about platinum alloys should see this.

7. Carving Dry PMC

One of the appealing things about PMC is the way it can be manipulated like clay, but for some of us, the real fun is carving the PMC after it is dry. This short video demonstrates how to form a ring blank then carve it with files, just as we would carve wax. In this case, though, there are no sprues, no investing, and no casting.

8. Soldering onto PMC

The original version of PMC was a bit tricky to solder, but PMC+ and PMC3 are both as dense as traditional metals, so soldering is just like working with traditional metals.
