If you work much in platinum metals the hydrogen flame is best but I own
a regulator and use bottled hydrogen in this case having found that
while most water torches(membrane in machine seperates hydrogen from
oxygen in the water and produces them in small quantity and feeds them
to a torch tip)may produce enough heat for small soldering jobs the ones
I have seen are not adequate to melt or cast platinum jewelry and for
this you need bottled hydrogen and oxygen…Gavin
