========[ Invite a Friend - http://www.ganoksin.com/invite.htm ]======== Please welcome our newest members! ..................................................... Mike Schechter Tully, NY. USA hobbyist. primarily fabricated silver/base metal jewelry with occasional stone setting and also smaller (under 1 meter) sculpture, mixed metal/stone and free-torch-made steel. ..................................................... Kathleen E Smetek Ringgold, GA. USA I just graduated from Savannah College of Art and Design with a BFA in Metals and Jewelry. I am currently looking for a job that will help me get the experience of being a "Jeweler." I have been told by several people that I need experience before they can hire me...so I pose this question to all - How, just how is someone like me who works hard, and just out of school supposed to get experience if no one will hire me? Does anyone know why this happens? I'm not looking for anything in particular just a job that allows me to use what I've learned in school and maybe learn more from the people around me. I love to learn new things about Jewelry! This is such an exciting field and I just want to be a bench jeweler for a few years for someone who loves this craft as much as I do. I may not be a good stone setter but I can make the settings for just about any stone. I love to carve waxes and cast as well as enamel. I'm not the greatest when it comes to enamelling but I got the basics. I still love it. ..................................................... Kevin Kamalu Pukalani, HI. USA I live on Maui and make jewelry. I've done lampwork, PMC and currently taking metalsmithing classes. ____________________________________________________________________ T h e O r c h i d L i s t Open Electronic Forum for Jewelry Manufacturing Methods and Procedures ____________________________________________________________________ Orchid FAQ: ~ http://www.ganoksin.com/orchid/faq.htm Orchid Archives: ~ http://www.ganoksin.com/orchid/archive Orchid Galleries: ~ http://www.ganoksin.com/orchid/gallery.htm Invite a Friend: ~ http://www.ganoksin.com/invite.htm ____________________________________________________________________ Tips From The Jeweler's Bench - Article Archive ~ http://www.ganoksin.com/borisat/tip_sear.htm The Jeweler's Selected Bibliography List ~ http://www.ganoksin.com/jewelry-books Buy Orchid Jewelry: ~ http://www.ganoksin.com/shop ____________________________________________________________________ -Unsubscribe: -Email: orchid-request AT ganoksin.com Body=unsubscribe subject=blank ____________________________________________________________________ |
