Low rpms, relieving pressure frequently and a lubricant (I use wax) are the efficient way to use drills and burrs for me. The cutting edge needs time to cut the metal and discard it. Also you generate less heat. Generally it is no problem if the metal heats up but high heat is very distructive for drills and burrs.
