    the metal / paper airplane is a pretty good idea, i also like the
    idea of something to hold to pieces of metal/wood/paperboard together
    to make a flexible 90 degree angle. 

    don't know why i would want to do that, but the sides appear to make
    right angle.

    large  enamelling trivet.

    There could be no other answer - it's obvious, though of course now
    that we have seen it, we shall all have to have our memories
    erased... I don't know what it is, either, but my guess is that it's
    a spare part for some machine, or perhaps a jig or fixture, as for a
    hydraulic press.  Just a guess..
