========[ Invite a Friend - http://www.ganoksin.com/invite.htm ]======== You have a retail jewelry store. The ceiling is 12 feet or so high. It has a few incandescent light bulbs of various wattages and shades of white. The windows are a little dirty and have some artsy gauzy stuff draped over them. Some people come in and want to look at some stuff. You shove some gunk off the counter and fish out a greasy cardboard sheet of rings. Does this dusty, dingy store sound like any store you've ever seen? Does it sound like the owner has good sense? Of course not. A proper store is brightly lit with color-balanced bulbs. The windows are open with plenty of light. The counters are bright and not dusty. The jewelry is shown on attractive displays. Two identical rings exist. One is in each store. Which store shows the ring to its best advantage? "Dingy Dusty Gems for You" or "Bright Beautiful Baubles"? Would you argue that the first store is more honest because it reflects conditions that by being "less than perfect" might be like the conditions the customer has at home? Of course not. Is a dusty, off color photo more honest than a corrected one? Would you refuse to show a ring in color corrected light? If you put money and effort into making your "store" attractive to enhance the impression the jewelry makes, do not chew out people who put effort into Photoshop to make their jewelry look its best. If you like ugly pictures, you have our permission to use them. Now, can we start a more useful topic?
