You know, its critically important to remember that. Whether one is
dealing directly with retail customers or presenting to resellers, its
the same thing...you want them to buy. That's the whole point of
making jewelry(unless its a hobby) in the first place. So if someone
really wants to actually sell their stuff it would be good to develop
the sales skills and thick skin you need. You can take whatever slant
you want on it, "I don't discount, period, you insult me by asking",
"Sometimes I will, whaddya have in mind?", "I'm in a good mood today
so you get 20% off before you even ask", do whatever is best for you.
But its wise to ask yourself occasionally if your policy is indeed
working for you, not against you.

I tell you its weird, I always thought that as long as I had a full
inbox I would be OK. Since I got the laser a couple of weeks ago my
backlog has diminished appreciably(partly because its so damn much
fun!). So now I'm looking at a couple dozen pending jobs instead of a
few score. Panic! Does that mean I'm running out of work? Did the
recession slip in here while I wasn't looking?

Or maybe I'm finally working smart instead of hard. Trout season is
   open.
