    I'm surprised this thread is still going on. I don't mean to be
    judgmental but to be upset by a person asking for a discount
    indicates insecurity (in my opinion). If there is no discount to be
    had (ie buying multiple items, etc) then the most gracious way to
    handle the request is 'the price is what is indicated on the tag' (or
    whatever you marked the price with). It has nothing to do with your
    work, or you, or the moon in alignment with Jupiter, it has to do
    with a person trying to get a lower price so they can spend more
    money at whatever show / exhibit / whatever you are showing at.
    That's it.. to go into a tirade about the manufacturing, value, parts
    used, etc just indicates that you are defensive (in my opinion). If
    you simply say 'no that's the price' then the whole episode is over
    that much faster. 

    These are my opinions, everyone asks me to discount stones I cut.
    Sometimes I do because I like the person, most often I don't because
    I mark it the way it is.. they are buying art not something from
    jewelry television or a cutting house in china (although there are
    some good Chinese cutting houses these days).. 

Just my opinion!
