    I am amazed at how intolerent the posters on this thread generally
    are with customers. It is fair trade and culturally acceptable
    elsewhere in the world to "bargain" or haggle as you refer. This is
    not to say that the price will be "fought" over, just price
    confirmed and lowered if possible (for whatever reason the seller may
    want to give a discount! ) It is not only seen as common practice but
    in parts it is expected. To turn away a paying customer because they
    have asked if there may be a discount applicable, is, IMHO,
    completely unnecessary. Is it that difficult to politely say, "sorry,
    today there is no discount applicable on this item" or "Unfortunately
    not!". Do you really feel INSULTED by a customer asking if the price
    marked was your best price?? IMHO looking outwardly to have a bit
    more of a world view will certainly help with individual business
    dealings, a bit more cultural tolerence may be necessary as the
    economy falls into decline.... ? As for some customers paying more
    than others... I don't know about there (America), but here, you
    won't find a tube of toothpaste (or anything else) at a consistant
    price in FIVE different shops!
