If its out of the nozzle,I have come to expect this from a new
torch. It might be left over lubricant or cotton that is stuffed
into the bottom of the torch Tip for packing. Check that last. I got
a tip that still had the whole wad in there. There could be other
reasons but these are what I have come across.

If the flame is out the air holes, call the maker right away because
something's wrong. Had this happen also. They will contact RIO and
send you a new torch body. Smith has excellent customer service.
    Don't know about others.

As for the air ratio: do you want an oxidizing atmosphere or a
reducing one? More blue reducing; More orange /yellow oxidizing.

Hope this helps!
