Carl, You are right on the mark when you say that the people doing
the work should be the ones formulating the guidelines. A case in
point is the horrendous guidelines we now have for disclosure. AGTA
was instrumental in formulating the guidelines. AGTA is an
organization of gem traders and not gem cutters. Just like the
guidelines on “Handmade” were made by people that sell jewelry and
not people that make jewelry with their own two hands.
