With all the confusion regarding the broken tungsten carbide
question, I did a little experiment. Yesterday, I took a broken
reground micro bit with a.185 in shaft and suspended it with
stainless steel wire it in some old pickle for a day. I am assuming
that it was tungsten carbide. It was immediately plated with some of
the dissolved copper from past picklings, so I knew something was
dissolving. I took a look at it today and it was reduced to.135 in.,
it had a thick, powdery black coating and a pile of copper colored
granules under it. So the answer, at least in this case was that this
bit would dissolve, perhaps slowly and would need to have the
detritus cleared away for the pickle to continue to work. My
experiment may have been confounded by used pickle with a little
    peroxide in it.
