    Actually Cobalt will corrode; cobalt is very susceptible to acid
    attack, almost any acid will literally eat cobalt for lunch. However
    cobalt is very resistant to alkali attack. 

    Personally if I need to get rid of some cobalt I use hydrochloric
    acid (provided that the surrounding metals are resistant to this
    acid, that is), other wise I find another way to do the job, be it
    mechanical or what ever.
