I read it as how long as in what length should each piece be - not
how long should it take to make.

But like you say Rick, it depends entirely on what the design is.
This is a project I am thinking of doing myself.

To the chap who asked the question in the first place: Do you want to
know how long each half of the watch band should be? In which case,
the average length for a women's normal bracelet is about 7.5-8" but
they are generally a looser fit than a watch. My own watch band
opened out (including watch) is 7", so if you are making the band to
attach to a watch you already have then I would simply say subtract
the width of the watch from 7" and divide the remainder by 2. Then if
that's made up of component parts, divide by the number of parts to
find how big to make them, or divide by the designed length of each
part to find how many you need, depending on how you've designed it.
Don't forget to factor in the length of whatever catch you are using.

You'll probably get lots of more comprehensive answers from people
who have actually done it before. Let us know how you get on.
