Dear Jennifer,

Thanks for your advice. I'd not considered the fact that the rollers
wouldn't necessarily roll down to a thin enough gauge as I've not
yet used it. I have a bench vice so getting a couple of draw plates
would not be a problem. I'm getting the picture now. The two tools
are used in conjunction with each other. I'm finding it frustrating
that I am running out of stock wire and sheet before I've got the
funds to order some more and then of course have to wait a couple of
days before the postman delivers it after ordering, so my priority
this next month is to buy the crucible and ingot molds, etc so that
I can make my own stock. As I'm still learning at the moment and
therefore not yet sending things for hallmarking and selling, I'm
only making jewellery for friends, family and myself and so I'm not
fussed that my scrap contains a certain amount of solder. It's all a
good learning experience and the quality of what I'm making has
improved dramatically thanks to all the good advice I've received
    from Orchid.

Incidentally, when buying crucibles, what sort should I go for? I
read somewhere recently of some crucibles only being good enough for
ten melts!!! I was looking for a little more permanency than that.

    Thanks again Jennifer.

Helen
