The problem I have with it is polish. They say it can be polished but not by me, I guess. If it can be done then it's going to be a learning curve. There's an inherent porosity to it also that will pick up compound and get "dirty", too. What that translates into is that you have something like cloisonnes and fill them with resin, and you have to do it (I have, anyway) at the very last and leave it alone. You either need to be completely anal about stuff like having color on top of the borders or just live with it, because it can't be ground like glass. Plus colors will bleed immediately if they touch when wet. It's real handy for adding some color - I'm not sure I'd use it on a large scale, but that depends on what the product is, too. http://www.donivanandmaggiora.com ____________________________________________________________________ T h e O r c h i d L i s t Open Electronic Forum for Jewelry Manufacturing Methods and Procedures ____________________________________________________________________ Orchid FAQ: ~ http://www.ganoksin.com/orchid/faq.htm Orchid Archives: ~ http://www.ganoksin.com/orchid/archive Orchid Galleries: ~ http://www.ganoksin.com/orchid/gallery.htm Invite a Friend: ~ http://www.ganoksin.com/invite.htm ____________________________________________________________________ Tips From The Jeweler's Bench - Article Archive ~ http://www.ganoksin.com/borisat/tip_sear.htm The Jeweler's Selected Bibliography List ~ http://www.ganoksin.com/jewelry-books Buy Orchid Jewelry: ~ http://www.ganoksin.com/shop ____________________________________________________________________ -Unsubscribe: -Email: orchid-request AT ganoksin.com Body=unsubscribe subject=blank ____________________________________________________________________ |
