Anyone who has ever attempted to repair an MC piece would beg you to
stamp it as such. If you don't know it is MC, and sometimes it is
not obvious, you will approach the repair as if it was milled or cast
work. A recipe for disaster. Although MC may technically be fine
silver, in a repair situation, MC does not behave in the same way as
the fine silver that most of us are used to working with. Clearly
stamping MC might simply prevent the loss or destruction of a piece
    that is meaningful to someone.
