Hello All,

I ordered a disc or coin shaped piece of fired metal clay with a
decorative front and a plain back. I wanted to use it in an project I
was doing and i don't work in metal clay but I wanted the unusual
textural element. I received it and then I started to gently shape it
(I was going to create a SLIGHT dome to the disc) a bit, as I thought
I probably could, and the disc broke and crumbled into 3 pieces. The
core of the disc didn't look like silver, it had a pale khaki color.
I took one of the pieces and balled it up and it was really acting
much different from the milled products I am accustomed to. When I
drilled into it it powdered up instead of creating the swirly strips
drilling usually produces. I think my experience was odd and could
anyone tell me why these things happened if it supposed to be fine
    silver ?

Susan
