Actually the numbers for fine and sterling silver are for their
fully annealed state. Cast sterling is slightly higher than the
quoted number and I can not find one for cast fine silver. Also it is
good to remember that these numbers are not absolutes but rather a
range of values from tests that are often averaged to give the quoted
number. They can and do vary slightly from test to test. A tensile
test involves a machine that pulls on a sample till it gives and
then eventually breaks the number quoted is the maximum strength
before failure. MPa stands for Mega-Pascals. MPA x 145.0377= PSI so
311 MPa = 45106 PSI often written as 45 KSI.

So PMC3 is 85% as strong as annealed fine silver and PMC standard is
40% as strong as annealed fine silver. Another measurement derived
from the tensile testing, the elongation percentage which tells how
much the material stretches during testing would let us compare
ductility and in effect how "brittle " PMC is with respect to fine
silver. If anyone has these numbers I would love to see them.
