    Have to be careful here, if what you mean by fuse is that the
    material actually liquifies then yes you are right. However many
    techniques that are in use by modern metalsmiths fuse metals at
    below the liquidus temperature, mokume gane, keum-bo, and metal clays
    all use diffusion bonding or solid state diffusion welding. They all
    result in metallic metallurgical bonds just like brazing, welding,
    or fusing. There are differences in the resulting microstructure
    (crystal lattice) between techniques but make no mistake they are as
    fully bonded as any fusion bond. The things that make the difference
    in the resulting physical properties of each method is the
    microstructure which results from the processing of the material pre
    bond, during bonding and post bonding.
