I worked as manager and have been in the position of having to fire
someone. When I first read Hazel's post, my reaction was the same as
that quoted above. Then I remembered a miserable situation with an
employee who I asked to apologize to a customer and make it clear
that what she had said was not representative of our firm. She felt
that I was trying to humiliate her, and she refused, angrily. At that
point, I became quite angry myself and said, essentially, "Off with
    her head!"

I am not saying this is what happened with Nanz and Hazel. But we
weren't there, so we don't *know* what happened. We don't know if
Hazel actually fired Nanz because of what she posted on Orchid, or if
she's trying *not* to go into detail about what happened (actually,
she did not explicitly say she had fired Nanz--does anyone know for
sure that Nanz didn't resign?). Some of us may feel that it was
inappropriate for Hazel to post on Orchid about this situation, but
some of us may have been just as upset if she hadn't, and we'd simply
heard that Nanz was "no longer with" Art Jewelry.
