Woooah Hazel,

I'm sorry that Nanz is no longer on Art Jewelry staff. I've admired
her abilities and candor. Perhaps she was one-sided with the
statements on metal clay, but removing her from the staff for
expressing an opinion - that's harsh. Marketers tell me there is no
bad publicity, and Art Jewelry has received a lot of exposure... I'd
even say, none of the exposure was bad, just controversial.

I don't think anyone believes that the metal clays are replacements
for the traditional metal working techniques. It's just over-priced,
fun stuff. Although I've seen some quite lovely - even awesome -
work in metal clays, the target audience seems to be people who like
to dabble in crafting. Think of those folks on a cruise who paint
designs on a simple molded ceramic plate and are delighted to pay 20
times what it's worth. Come to think of it, the cruise lines should
be promoting the metal clay as a fun craft for their passengers. They
could even sell CZs for "setting." :-) Oops, slap my wrist - that was
    tacky.

Seriously, I'm betting that even those Orchidians who have positive
experience with metal clays and have been ardently advocating them,
would agree that Nanz does not deserve the loss of her job.

Please reconsider,
Judy in Kansas, who is shaking her head over all this hoopla.
