Since Laura is finished posting on the subject can someone explain
how she is wrong or how she "dissed" the "Community"? The clay she
used was awful and barely usable for anything approaching what could
be called fine jewelry. Everyone involved with metal clay must agree
because the product has improved over the years. Nan should have said
that as a CYA, but I'm sure she didn't expect the thought police to
come down on her like a ton of clay. The editor is the one that should
be fired for her reactionary vindictive behavior.

She made it clear that she based her comments on her experience with
metal clay and not the "Artists". I hated everything I saw made with
metal clay until the last few years. There's finally some nice
looking stuff being made. I really don't know why the insecurity and
cult-like behavior. Have a discussion about it, don't destroy the
    dissenter.

By the way, some of you are posting that it's Jim's OPINION the the
density of metal clay is less than cast or wrought metal. This is not
his OPINION it is FACT. I don't recall who it was that posted that
properly fired metal clay has the same density as cast, but the
statement was wrong. If that person has a position in the industry
should they be fired for posting something so blatantly wrong? Nan
was fired for posting something demonstrably correct. Just for fun, go
to Amazon and search inside the three or four books that are search
able for density or dense. Nothing comes up for density and a couple
of books mention that if you want to solder on metal clay the surface
must be burnished to close up the porosity because metal clay is less
dense. You brown shirts in the "Community" can go find out who this
heretic is and out him or her. I don't think it was Tim. As I recall
he made no mention of the density of metal clay - guess he knows
    what's good for him!
