    A thoughtful and well written post Andy. 

    Here's a thought. At the SNAG conference in Chicago I was surprised
    at how much "crazy" stuff there was. Gold painted pink to look like
    wax, jewelry made entirely of rubber. 

    Where's the metal 

    The magazine called metalsmith has article after article about
    "jewelry" that's made out of stuff that's not metal. By "metalsmiths"
    who don't use metal! 

    And everyone's okay with that

    But metal clay, don't get us started...
