========[ Invite a Friend - http://www.ganoksin.com/invite.htm ]======== I do not agree that any system had to be created. Jewelry making can easily be accomplished by self-teaching as equally as taking classes, its all about repeating a process or technique enough to become proficient at it. PMC is a MLM scheme and the certification process is a pyramid scheme- as such I am issuing certification as well, upon submission of any image of a piece of one's work so that proficiency and skills can be assessed..Who is to say that a metal smith with over thirty years is not capable of making that skills reviewi And my certification is as viable as any other - demonstration is emonstration and observable deficiencies are evident- it doesn't take thousands of dollars to work up an imaginary ladder of levels to teach the use of a material like metal clay where essentially anyone with water, brush, cutting equipment, burnishing tools and a heat source can produce metallic creations that are wearable and intended to provide adornment without the skills of a metalsmith- because they are not the same... Additionally I ask a 10 dollar donation for certification to cover the costs of critical analysis, paper and postage..there are no other hidden agendas, levels of anything nor multi-level marketing. I will sell you PMC at wholesale prices at or below those of other resellers provided you are in possession of a resale number or business license and buying the metal clay to produce/manufacture works which are intended to be resold. I'll also sell you fine silver and karated golds at a far lower price than any metal clay product..because If what you profess about metal clay being identical to precious metal raw materials were true, then the certified PMC artist could use the raw materials interchangeably which is not at all the case, unless an individual has metalsmithing skills in addition to a thorough understanding of the metallurgical properties and limitations of metal clay products and can translate between the two materials Again Elaine, this is not to personally direct any judgment on metal clay users, just to point out that: 1) there really never was a need for any system- as there is no need for any system to be able to use water colours, acrylic paint, clay or any art or craft material, and as such PMC is a multilevel marketing programme cleverly disguised 2) certification in the form is as relative as the form itself. Anyone with some skills and experience and a thorough understanding of the art and sciences involved in making jewelry can look at a metal clay object and make unilateral asesments of the artists skills or lack thereof. 3) there is no governing body over teaching jewelry making, and as such to insist that PMC requires any governance is simply part of the pyramid scheme cleverly disguised and promoted..It's all about Marketing and an industrial waste product. If you look at the details of Mitubishi's desires to and motivations for reusing their waste metals in the late 1980's it may become clearer to you their intent and subsequent recruitment of metalsmiths and jewelers to help develop a way to sell and make a profit from those waste products- nothing more, nothing less..
