After metal clay has been properly fired, any binders in the clay
have burned off and the remainder is 100% fine silver. I do not see
any difficulty with identifying a piece of fired metal clay as fine
silver. Fine silver is softer than sterling and will have different
wear characteristics. If the customer wants additional information,
then the seller could expand on the fine silver designation by
telling the customer that it is metal clay. Not really very different
from a goldsmith selling an 18K item and telling the percentages of
metal in that specific alloy if the customer wants to know.
