    we have been using compact florescent bulbs since they showed up on
    store shelves, ours have lasted for years, indoors and outdoors too!
    What kind of fixture are you using them in that they burn out so
    quickly? 

    I have tried them several times, with intervals in between. In each
    case the bulbs went dead after about 4-5 hours. I do NOT love them!
