This has been a particularly interesting thread for me as I'm still
in a previous life. Or so I hope... Yes, an IT geek, Computer
Operations. Day job is in the basement of a building with no fresh
air and no day light. Frankly, I hate this job... Previous work
lives has been fairly limited. Butcher, gas pump jockey, Air Force,
electronics tech doing all sorts of computer repair at 3:00 AM, now
    IT.

My first jewelry was in the 7th grade, lapidary and some silver
work. My wife introduced me to lamp worked beads about ten years ago.
Lamp working, making all those cool glass beads, led me to a jewelry
class in fabrication. Instructors taught a casting class in their
home, which I took several times just for the enjoyment. I ended up
teaching the fabrication class upon their retirement. Quit teaching
when we moved out of the 'burbs. Teaching was incredibly wonderful,
    giving back just a bit.

We're trying to look ahead at future lives. I'll hit the double
nickel this November, which will first retirement eligibility. The
company pension plan disappeared this year, however my 16 years here
still applies, it's just frozen where it's at. Any pension pay will
be very short. We're still trying to figure it all out.

Most of my work is dichroic glass that is cold worked, and then set
in precious metals. I sell at art shows around the PNW and limited
galleries. I do some custom work, and also work with stones. My
studio includes space to teach. We also have a new historical museum
in Government Camp, OR which is about tens miles from home. Workshops
and classes for the arts are now conducted at the museum. I'm
discussing the potential of holding workshops at the museum.

Jerry
