Actually, I was a jeweler in my former life. It wasn't really much of
a life ; more of a train wreck, highlited by years of drug and
alcohol abuse, heartbreak and disappointment. No point in going on
about that, except to say that I died and was reborn in a rehab
clinic and have been a very good boy ever since (1988). But I'm not a
jeweler now, I'm your friendly neighborhood pancake die maker, The
    Sheltech Guy.

What got me started in jewelry was a video I saw in 8th grade that
showed Navajo craftsmen doing tufa carving and casting. Then I got a
summer job for a friend of my stepfather who was a jeweler. Basic
Native American silversmithing. Being unmotivated to go to college I
got a job as a smith out of high school, and worked for several
places over the next 10 years, doing a lot of production work,
    modelmaking, and such.

Sheltech was started in 1987 (happy 20th to me !!!) while I was
working with two guys in a partnership. We were looking for easier
ways to make parts for jewelry, and being rather good at such things,
I got good at making pancake dies. And the rest is no mystery.
