Yup, me too, Daniel. I started making jewelry in 9th grade, and
haven't stopped. On the other hand, though I have always been a
jeweler/metalsmith/artist, the emphasis between those roles has
varied through the years. As a college junior with an Art major, I
panicked about making a living, so I got a degree in Art Education,
"just in case" and to "be practical", but did not use it in public
schools except for one semester of intern teaching. I got the BS in
Art Ed, and then an MFA in Jewelry, Design, and Silversmithing.
Then, I went to the Post-Graduate School of Hard Knocks, working for
2 years in custom goldsmith shops, and then 3 years in a gold jewelry
factory (modelmaker, moldmaker, trainer, supervisor). Then I did
"limited production" and custom jewelry while starting a family.
Then, as the kids grew older, and were in public school, I started
teaching more, and making art jewelry and hollowware again. Then,
getting involved with commissions for large Synagogue art. Then,
getting interested in fold forming, hydraulic pressing,
Argentium.....There's always something to get interested in and
excited about. So, I feel fortunate to have been able to live the
    life I've lead!
