    This made me think of this: how careers that used to be men only,
    such as teaching, salaries went way down when they became women
    only. (okay, okay, men area allowed in, dominated by women.) 

    All the "caring" professions such as teaching, nursing, pay less. 

    I did some research a few years ago through some volunteer work I
    was doing and found that a man with a high school diploma only would
    make more than a woman with a BA/BS. 

    Those who deny the disparities exist have never faced the challenges
    of breaking into a male dominated field. 

    In Noel's example above, I don't know if they are paid less, but
    male nurses definitely face stereotyping, and possibly have
    difficulty in getting hired.
