Hi there,

I've been reading the posts & Doc. I'm sorry to hear of your loss.
Hopefully it will be temporary. Of course, we have lost many
items-small to big stones, the perfect piece of metal for sizing
etc. The best I can say, start where you see it fall, move in a
circular pattern out, sweep carefully, use the flashlight across the
horizon level, check your floor sweeps(including siving the dust on a
piece of paper) etc. If this fails, as it once did for my husband,
re-check your bench area, top to bottom. This will include your foot
pedal on the flex shaft. He once dropped an emerald( that was part of
a match in a repair job) and of course the job was due NOW...After
searching alot, he moved the foot pedal, heard something inside,
shook it upside down, and out came the stone..Of course this was
after he bought a replacement but had not set the new stone...Guess
the trolls had a good laugh-especially when the customer thought his
stone was a switched/new stone....Many hours later with a clean shop
floor, a finished job,& a sigh of relief- it taught us to always
check even in seemingy impossible locations!!P.S., I like the idea of
the low profile rug piece below the bench which was suggested
earlier. Good tip!! Happy Pre-Valentine's Day from wet S.F. Jo-Ann
