Hi Annabel,

    I agree with Christos, it does depend on the glue you are using. I
    generally use French wire with pearls; but when I do glue, I use G-S
    Hypo Cement. It has a needle-size applicator which allows you to be
    very precise.. as a result, it's much easier to put just the right
    amount of glue on your knot with little to no spillover. The few
    times I've used clamshells, I just wait until the glue has dried
    before closing the shell (and this glue dries clear).
