    Award-winning jewelry designer Barbara Berk will teach a 7-session
    course, "Weaving With Metal," at University of California Santa Cruz
    Extension in Cupertino, CA. Tuesdays from 7-10 pm, February 6 -
    March 27, 2007. Through demonstrations, slides, discussion and
    hands-on work, this introductory course will present a variety of
    weaving techniques that can be used to create jewelry, sculpture,
    functional objects and wall art. Using copper, brass, and aluminum
    sheet and wire, students will execute samples of flat and textured
    weaves, rectangular and non-rectangular weaves, and flat and
    3-dimensional forms. Students will explore color, pattern and scale,
    and experiment with forming, deforming and manipulating the woven
    metal. Students may choose to expand their library of samples or may
    create finished piece(s). No bench skills are required, and all
    levels of metal and/or fiber experience are welcome. A materials kit
    will be included; students may purchase additional metal from the
