========[ Invite a Friend - http://www.ganoksin.com/invite.htm ]======== Hi Lee > if you have a talent for bringing out peoples TRUE likes and > dislikes, not just what they THINK they would like Yes, very tricky. This is probably the toughest part of a business. I just wanted to add that the plan that I mentioned for a business is my ideal business, the ultimate dream come true business. The way that I operate in pretty much everything I do is I maintain very lofty goals. Some have told me that I like to wear rose colored glasses, that I'm not reasonable. If i don't have a good dream of the future to carry with me, though, I just can't move forward. I said to my ex-partner "I like to think big". She replied," I like to set realistic goals that are actually achievable" This was the main reason we didn't get along well. As a teenager, I used to study the real estate section of Town and Country magazine. Without going into a lot of boring detail about my home life, it was nearly impossible for me to ever actually live in one of those houses (unless I was the maid). I'm 38 now, and even though I am not in that kind of house yet it is something that is a lot more attainable now (and I still have about 65 years yet to achieve it). I read somewhere that people have 3 types of goals (at one time) the dream (what would you do if you could do anything?), the realistic goal (the one that is actually attainable), and the present situation. I have to move with a carrot dangling in front of me is what I'm getting at. It works for me. At the risk of sounding like some kind of Nike add, it's about the journey, not the destination. I don't know if I will ever operate my dream business, but it's so worthwhile for me to try to get there Thank you for the encouragement Kim Starbard ____________________________________________________________________ T h e O r c h i d L i s t Open Electronic Forum for Jewelry Manufacturing Methods and Procedures ____________________________________________________________________ Orchid FAQ: ~ http://www.ganoksin.com/orchid/faq.htm Orchid Archives: ~ http://www.ganoksin.com/orchid/archive Orchid Galleries: ~ http://www.ganoksin.com/orchid/gallery.htm Invite a Friend: ~ http://www.ganoksin.com/invite.htm ____________________________________________________________________ Tips From The Jeweler's Bench - Article Archive ~ http://www.ganoksin.com/borisat/tip_sear.htm The Jeweler's Selected Bibliography List ~ http://www.ganoksin.com/jewelry-books Buy Orchid Jewelry: ~ http://www.ganoksin.com/shop ____________________________________________________________________ -Unsubscribe: -Email: orchid-request AT ganoksin.com Body=unsubscribe subject=blank ____________________________________________________________________ |
