    Yes, balance is needed. What is the point of making art that is only
    designed to please the artist? Not every "inner muse" leads us to a
    good place, it must be harnessed and directed, not followed blindly.
    Creativity should be an open pathway with many possibilities, not a
    set of blinders with a carrot in front of your face leading in only
    one possible direction. If a person's creativity only leads them
    where no one else wants to follow, perhaps a reappraisal of their art
    is in order.
