    I've experimented with LOS patina and sealers. I took 6 different
    cans of spray and wrote down my results. I started with 3 sets of 6
    pairs of silver leaf earrings, each set of 6 pairs with the same
    patina color, but each group of 6 pairs was a separate color
    (magenta, dark blue and green). I found that some backed down the
    color (I was using the patina with ammonia and salt added which has
    a predictable color progression) 1 color, some backed it down two
    colors and one left the irridescent colors alone but changed the
    base color slightly. (Progression: gold is the first color, magenta,
    then dark blue, then lighter blue and finally green) The best 3
    sealers I tried were StaBrite brass sealer, Auto clear top coat (for
    car, not truck...there were two kinds) and Nicklas which has more of
    a mat surface. I never got a brown color with this process. I only
    ended up with colors that I usually get with LOS patina.
