    Don't know if that regulator may have had a fall that  I wasn't aware
    of while it was not being used. 

    That may be it. . You can have it rebuilt by your welding supply
    house but  it usually takes some time. If the means are there, buy a
    new reg and have your old one rebuilt, then you have a spare. 

    Out of curiosity, what are you using acetylene on?
