    There are many alloys called pewter. This should work on them: 

    Make a mixture of one part nitric acid in 5 parts of water. Always
    add the acid to the water! use a glass container and keep covered.
    submerge the object in the solution. remove, rinse well with water and
    dry with a paper towel.
