    Possibly you are just not using enough heat. You don't say how large
    the box is, but when I constructed a 5-inch by 4-inch by 2-inch box
    out of 18g sterling, I had to use two torches to get it hot enough,
    evenly enough.

    Do you really need to use hard solder?
