    Thor, you are right, but you seem unclear, and this is fundamental
    stuff. Fine silver is 99.9% pure - it is called fine because it is
    not precisely "pure" - getting the last.1% out costs a lot, and you
    can go to a chemical supply for "pure" (CP in chem terms) at $100/oz
    or so. Sterling silver is an alloy - a mixture of metals. Traditional
    sterling is 92.5% silver (or 925/1000) and 7.5% copper and nothing
    else. It's like the "how to roast a turkey articles" around
    Thanksgiving. I guess there are some things that need to be
    reiterated from time to time...
