    In the first shop I worked in (back in 74) we had a set of
    high-tech tools just for flaring tubes. They consisted of some old
    nails with the heads cut off and the point slightly rounded and
    polished. I just polish mine with tripoli and a rag buff. Insert the
    size that will just fit in the tube in your flex shaft and with a
    little pressure spin at low speed rotating a little, and as the tube
    flairs go to a larger nail. On rivets that show I still finish with a
    small riveting hammer or a punch. I keep a small box of assorted
    nails handy they make great tool stock for all kinds of applications.
