Ultrasonic repair

During a recent storm I had the misfortune of having lightning
strike the electric line coming into my house. It killed my two
ultrasonics (and my computer despite a surge protecter). I was
hoping to be able to repair them and thought someone on here might
have some advice. They are a “Gemoro” and “Ottosonic” both one quart
with heaters and several years old but still worked fine despite
abuses from one of the worst apprentices on earth. Or should I just
get a new one?

I can probably repair the units. I’d have to see the damage. give me
a call at 1-800-223-4936

Best regards
Mike & Dale at Lone Star Technical Service,
your ultrasonic repair guys.

Call the manufacturer and see if you can still get parts, if you
can’t, the choice is no longer there. More than likely the transducer
survived, have you checked fuses? Some times the fuses are put inside
on the control board.

Ultrasonics are almost impossible to repair. If the electonics alone
are blown, that’s difficult enough. Me, I do electicity (switches,
rheostats, wiring, computers, motors), but not electronics. If the
transducers are blown, that’s equally as bad - I tried installing a
transducer once on a home-made ultrasonic drill, and it went
"Whirrrrrrr - POP" and blew up. You could try, and I know the cost
of one ultrasonic, much less two, but I’m afraid there is little
hope. There are people who can do it - Otto Frei has a repair man,
but then you’ll have an expensive old repaired creaky ultrasonic.

That may not always be the case. We have been repairing ultrasonic
cleaners for 15 years. We provide warranty repair for ELMA and for
Healthsonics. We can usually repair any other ultrasonic on the
market, some easier than others. We can replace transducers and
repair the circuit boards down to the component level. I you have a
problem, feel free to call on Lone Star Technical Services.

Call John Cranor, The Jewelry Equipment Doctor, at 719-527-1531. If
it can be repaired, John can do it.

I believe a lot of places have a free est. charge on ultrasonic.
Cost to ship it. Might be worth the shipping to see if it could be
used as a back-up unit. Season is coming fast
