    As a spin off from a jade carving project, I've developed a complex
    surface that I wish to press into metal. 

    Problem is, I can do this on one surface of a die, but it will be
    difficult to do this on 2 halves of a die. So, the thought was
    raised, lets use 1/2 of a die, and press into urethane or other
    material to provide hydraulic back pressure. 

    Any suggestions on materials to use? I have a 15 ton press, so
    should be adequate for small 1 square inch) surface areas.
