Grace -

    One way to even out the LOS patina on matching pieces is to build the
    patina slowly with multiple quick dips (alternating each dip with
    cool rinse water,) but every few dips dry the piece completely and
    buff it with #0000 steel wool to knock down the finish. Then redip a
    few times and repeat. You'll notice that the silver evens out in the
    grey/blue range. I do this all the time for earrings and get very
    consistent results.
