    Dear rr, I use LPG for balling the ends on silver wire, from 1.5 mm
    to.6 mm diam. I don't dip the wires in flux at all or heat the whole
    thing- the trick is to put just the end of the wire into the hottest
    part of the flame. Works on gold as well,
